Hello Skyline Families,
Quick update from yesterday’s message…
There are two opportunities this week and next to learn about logistics
for the upcoming school year. Both of these meetings will provide different,
but valuable information.
· The Skyline Family
Forums will give specific information
about Skyline's Distance Learning Plans for the start of the 2020-2021 school
year.
· The OEA Family
Meeting is a chance for OEA
representatives to give info regarding current OEA/District MOU negotiations
regarding the transition to in-person instruction.
You should have received emails about both of these meetings but below is a summary of each.
1. Skyline Family Forums: Although we cannot meet in person, Skyline
would like to offer some virtual space to review what distance learning will
look like this year. We anticipate that families will receive a lot of
communication in the coming weeks, and we are here to support you! We hold
sessions in both English and Spanish concurrently.
· Monday, August 3, 2020 at 5:30pm - Freshman,
Sophomores, and Transfer Students
· Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 5:30pm - Juniors
& Seniors
*Virtual meeting links will be sent out soon.
2. Oakland Education
Association's (OEA) Family Meeting: Skyline
teachers are hosting a meeting for families to clarify information and to hear
your concerns. OEA has put together a slideshow, along with videos and
petitions, to help make clear what the teachers are saying would be necessary
for Skyline and OUSD to safely resume in person and what we need to do until
that time and why.
· Thursday, July 30 at 7pm. - Skyline teachers are hoping you will
join the meeting on Zoom.
