** Support California Public Education: Have
you signed the petition for Schools and Communities First? It will allow
our state to raise $12 billion annually for schools and community services by
requiring businesses to pay property tax on the fair market value of their
properties. Residential properties are not affected.
First, we have to get this on the ballot. We’re a
few hundred thousand signatures short of reaching our goal of 1.6 million
signatures.
If you haven’t signed already, please come do so at your
closest neighborhood school or at Skyline on March
4th. We’ll be collecting petition signatures at morning drop
off. Got 30 minutes that morning? We’re looking for volunteers to
help gather signatures. Sign up here: https://scf.vote/3-4DayofAction
Find out which other schools are participating here: http://www.oaklandscf.org/my-school-status/. |

** Ride for a Reason Is Coming! Skyline is one of 12 partner schools this year in the Sat. April 25th, 2020 one-day benefit bike ride to
Sacramento.
Ride for a Reason is Skyline’s biggest PTSA fundraiser and we need parents, students, and teachers to join us as riders or volunteers. The reason we ride is to highlight the importance of public schools and to advocate for increased public education funding.
Ride: The ride to
Sacramento has 45, 65, and 106 mile options. Weekly training rides are underway
to help you prepare. Register to ride by March 2nd to get the early
registration discount. Check the Ride for a Reason website R4Rschools.com for more details on the
big ride to Sacramento and upcoming training ride calendar.
Volunteer: Ride for a
Reason is a volunteer-run event with each of the partner schools providing a
team of volunteers. Students, parents and teachers can sign up for a shift. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0C4DAEA8229-ride
For questions about Ride for a Reason, contact Skyline’s ride
leaders Jen Ryden and JT Mates-Muchin R4R@skylinehs-ptsa.org.

** OUSD Facilities Master Plan: At this time, we are
encouraging our entire community (teachers, parents/guardians, students,
alumni, and connected neighbors) to complete this OUSD Master Facilities Plan
survey. In the survey, there is an area to document site-specific requests,
and we want our Skyline community voice to be heard.
Before completing the survey, please take a
few moments to view key priorities (as previously outlined by site-based
leadership groups) to see if these priorities resonate with your own
experiences. If they do, please reference these priorities in your
feedback.
Here is a link to the survey. Thank you in advance
for your support of Skyline High School!
